Nassau

After three whole days at sea, we were excited when the captain announced that we were able to stop in Nassau! The night was rough sailing and there was lightening and storms all around. We were glad to see the sunshine in the morning!

It was a short stop and there were so many people with two other cruise ships docked as well. We walked around, spent a few hours on the beach and found some presents for the kids. Much of the shoreline was still being cleaned up after the hurricane. When the time came, we made our way back to the ship before it was time to leave.

As we sailed away from Nassau, I was able to capture the lighthouse I had admired from a distance as well as some of the abandoned houses. It was fun to just stand on deck and watch the scenery roll by.

As I was later taking pictures of what I thought would be our last sunset on deck, Captain Gus announced that the ports in Florida were still closed and our cruise would be extended another day! I suppose there are worse places to be stuck during a hurricane.

Formal Dinner

The second night the dress was formal for dinner and I made everyone pose for a photo with the photographer! It is pretty incredible to see everything on a cruise ship and the dining room did not disappoint! I missed the first nights dinner due to motion sickness, so it was lovely to be able to visit together sans kids for the first time in forever! We are so grateful for good food and great friends!

Cruising with Friends

This week we have the opportunity to cruise with friends and we are so looking forward to it! We woke early and caught an Uber from our hotel to port. As we were boarding today we learned that all of our stops have been cancelled due to tropical storm Nicole, which means that we are spending an entire week literally at sea. We are super grateful to my parents for once again being willing to hold down the fort back home.

We had rooms near the front of the ship with these little round windows.

We spent some time near the pool while we waited on the ship to be ready to leave port.

In the evening, when we were finally sailing, we were blessed to catch the most gorgeous sunset! We sat and admired the skyline as the sun dipped into the ocean.
