After three whole days at sea, we were excited when the captain announced that we were able to stop in Nassau! The night was rough sailing and there was lightening and storms all around. We were glad to see the sunshine in the morning!
It was a short stop and there were so many people with two other cruise ships docked as well. We walked around, spent a few hours on the beach and found some presents for the kids. Much of the shoreline was still being cleaned up after the hurricane. When the time came, we made our way back to the ship before it was time to leave.
As we sailed away from Nassau, I was able to capture the lighthouse I had admired from a distance as well as some of the abandoned houses. It was fun to just stand on deck and watch the scenery roll by.
As I was later taking pictures of what I thought would be our last sunset on deck, Captain Gus announced that the ports in Florida were still closed and our cruise would be extended another day! I suppose there are worse places to be stuck during a hurricane.
