Late Mornings

Nothing super exciting happening in the Stannix home lately.  Sorry for the boring post! We've been having slow starts to our mornings lately.  I'm not complaining though.  My body has quite enjoyed sleeping in and resting up.  Growing a baby sure takes a lot outta ya!! We usually enjoy some cartoons in the morning while we eat our breakfast.  Camilla seems to enjoy relaxing too! She just kinda relaxes, and stretches, and watches her shows for a few minutes until she wakes up. It's cute.

Last night she went for a big long bubble bath.  I then gave her a little massage with some baby oil, and put her in some nice, warm, fleecy jammies.  Our little basement home is getting colder and colder as winter nears.  After prayer and a story, we snuggled on the green chair while she drank back her "bubba" (bottle). I was so sad though, when she finished, I tried to sneak some extra snuggles, and all she did was lean back and want to be put in her crib to fall a sleep.  Oh well, maybe tonight!! She slept like a baby though.  I didn't hear a peep until 9:30 this morning.

A little tidying to do today, and then maybe some time at the park if weather permits.  I do enjoy the crisp, fall air.  Yesterday, Camilla discovered some crunchy leaves on the ground and enjoyed stepping on them.  It was cute.  I love watching each new discovery she makes.  I love how quickly they learn.  A part of me wishes they wouldn't grow up so fast though. That's why I've been trying to enjoy and soak up each and every moment we have together.  Children bring so much joy!

Sing, Sign, Laugh and Learn

The munchkin is sleeping right now, and I should be too, but I'm trying something new.  Since I haven't been sleeping well at night (not well at all) I decided to opt out of my nap today, even though I think I still need it.  Hopefully by tonight, me and my body will be so tired that we will zonk out as soon as we hit the bed.  (Cross your fingers!) My house has returned from the disaster state it has been all week.  Thanks to my mum for doing my dishes for me!  Yesterday was filled with laundry, cleaning, tidying, and disinfecting.  Today, I vacuum, finish some dishes, and all is back to normal.  (For a little while at least, then it all starts again). I feel like housework is already never ending, and wonder how the 3 of us can make such a mess all the time.  I then think about when there will be a lot more of us, and how things will roll then.  I guess we'll just wait and see.  Usually things are pretty well organized and pretty clean though! It's not so bad, just when I'm tired and not feeling well does this place get out of hand!

Yesterday was a very fun, busy day.  We had our ward corn bust where we ate lots of yummy corn, chili, and dessert.  After the corn bust we went to a friends birthday party.  We had so much fun.  They are originally from Mexico, and have a super fun birthday tradition with a Piñata.  Each child gets a turn to hit it, and while they are hitting it, everyone else sings this song:

Dale, dale, dale.
No pierdas el tino.
Porque si lo pierdes.
Pierdes el camino.
Ya le diste una.
Ya le diste dos.
Ya le diste tres.
Y tu tiempo se acabó.

All the kiddies checking out the Piñata

In English it means:
Hit it, hit it, hit it (or "go, go, go")
Don't lose your aim
Because if you lose it (your aim)
You will lose the path.
You've already hit it once
You've already hit it twice
You've already hit it three times
And your time is over

It was a lot of fun to sing along and be a part of the festivities.  Camilla enjoyed watching and dancing as everyone sang the song.  The piñata was brought by the grandparents straight from Mexico!! It was way tougher than the cardboardy ones we get up here. Once it was broken, the kids went nuts gathering the loot into their treat bags.  Camilla was so cute, she ran around picking up chocolate bars and putting them into the OTHER KIDS' bags. Such a little helper!! Then, for fun, we put her inside the Piñata....Yeah, we're cool.

This morning, Camilla slept in until 9:30am.  What a treat!! We then got up and ate and got dressed and ready really quickly and took off to the Library to meet some friends for Sing, Sign, Laugh and Learn.  It was fun.  We read stories, sang songs, played with drums and shakers and blew bubbles.

Busted!!

So, Today, I woke up and decided my house needed a serious once over.  I haven't really been feeling up to cleaning and have been spending a lot of free time catching some Z's.  I cranked up Taylor Swift (yes, I like country music), gave the munchkin some fishy crackers and went to work.  I turned around to find that the little monkey had turned the coffee table into her personal stage and was rockin' out to Taylor Swift with a mouth full of fishies. BUSTED! She knows she's not supposed to be up there, and I have NO IDEA how she even got up there in the first place.  This kid is such a little performer.  When I went for my blood tests the other day she was showing off and making friends with everyone in the clinic. Underneath her sweet "hi" and darling smiles she is such a little dare devil! You can see the fire in her eyes! I'm glad she's so full of life, and especially glad that she didn't fall off while she was bobbing, jumping, and attempting her spins in the middle of the coffee table!

BUSTED with a mouth full of fish and a sly grin!

Slow Motion/#2

Last night my home was filled with laughter and giggles as we got ready for bed and family prayer.  It was the best feeling.  I wanted everything to be in slow motion so that I could soak up every last bit of the moment.  I sat on the famous green chair in Camilla's room watching her get tickled by her daddy and listening to the sweet sound of her belly giggles.  I loved watching her turn her head to the side and grin at me as she was pinned down by her fathers loving hands, bracing herself for the next round of tickles.  I loved watching Mr. Stannix, and seeing the love in his eyes as he tickled and then embraced her in a daddy hug.  I never want to forget that moment.  I was overwhelmed with feelings of joy and love.  There is nothing better than watching Mr. Stannix love Camilla and make her laugh.  There is also nothing better than hearing Camilla's bubbly little laugh.  It makes life worth living!

Yesterday after church, we were making our way out to our car and got stopped by the cutest old couple ever! They've watched Camilla grow and change, but on Sunday, they said, "She's getting so big, she sure doesn't look like a baby anymore!"  Although I'm excited that she is growing up and turning into a little girl, I do miss her chubby little fingers and toes, her tiny baby snuggles, her little baby smell, and getting up to feed her at night.  All special moments that I will always cherish.  It is for this exact reason that a while ago, Mr. Stannix and I decided it was time for another one.

We are excited to welcome another little one into our family in May, and look forward to watching Camilla as a big sister.  I look forward to many more special moments as a family, and lots more laughter in our home.

I love celebrating (If you ask Mr. Stannix he'll probably tell you all about our "special" six month anniversary where I asked him what he wanted for dinner, and he said "hot dogs".....ye-ah....he now knows how much I love celebrating).  This, was indeed a cause to celebrate with the famous sparkling juice.  Mr. Stannix loves popping the cork off. That's my man! We are super excited for May to roll around and baby #2 to arrive.  I've been feeling pretty good, aside from being extra tired with this one, and extra extra hungry ALL the time.  I think Camilla can sense the pregnancy maybe and has become extra clingy.  Even when Mr. Stannix is around, she cries hysterically when I leave the room, or go and do other things.  It's weird, but I'm sure it will pass soon.  For now, we are just taking things one day at a time, and enjoying every last second! I love watching our little family grow and change.  I love dreaming about our future together and thinking about the things we want to teach our children.  We are truly blessed.

Life is good,

It's Friday Already!

This week has gone by really fast.  My Mr. Stannix went back home on Tuesday to prep for school and go to school and I stayed out at my parents until yesterday.  It was a nice vacation.  I enjoyed relaxing and visiting and Camilla had fun!
She played lots over at Great-Gramma and Grampa's.  She's such a goofy girl some times.  She loves to unleash her silly side.  I just love it! I never go a day without cracking a smile with this girly in my life.  She helped Gramma bake chocolate chip cookies.  Gramma let her lick off the cookie dough spoon.  She ate/enjoyed eating chocolate chip cookies, and her face was covered in chocolate.
Camilla was so busy, that she konked out on the floor for a snooze.  She had so much fun!  It was a really great visit, but we missed Daddy!!  Last night, Camilla slept 13 hours!! She must have been happy to get back into her own bed after such a long holiday.  I woke up this morning and asked Mr. Stannix if she was alive in there. lol She NEVER sleeps in anymore.  It was great, I got a few extra minutes of sleep.  It's nice to be home.  Today is going to be filled with cleaning, unpacking and organizing.  I'm excited because Mr. Stannix will be home from school at 10:00am.  He's all mine today! Aside from the rain outside, today is a fabulous day! Fall has come early, our basement home is getting chilly, and winter is on it's way.  I am getting way to excited for Christmas already! I have some great ideas and can't wait to get started on presents.  I may have to start playing Christmas music early this year ;) Anyways, Off to get some things done before my hubby arrives home.  This house needs some work!!

Love Letters in the Sand

Mr. Stannix wrote me a love note while we were on vacation ;) He used some of Camilla's sand toys. Oh how I love him! Thanks Hun!

Fall Family Pictures

Ever since Mr. Stannix and I were married, we've had this tradition where we go and take family pictures in the fall.  It's glorious.  The leaves are colorful, the air is crisp and we usually get matching colored sweaters.  It's a lot of fun.  Since we're cheap, we usually pull out my tripod and take them ourselves.  This year, instead of colorful leaves, we shot for a colorful sunset on the beach while we were vacationing.  It was chilly, but we managed to get a few that I like.  Can't wait to change the picture in the frame when I get home from my parents this week! This year Camilla was a lot older and we actually got a few of her looking at the camera.  Aside from being cold, she did super good! It was fun to get some shots with our sweetheart.

Long Beach

We were so excited to make it to the beach, but woke up to rain, soaking wet rain.  Little did we know, there was also a fire ban! (Great, so what are we going to eat while we are camping?)  We had the worst/best luck ever.  On the way there, we picked up groceries, and a camp stove (because we needed to eat right...).  It was horrible.  Both of us were a tad grumpy given the weather, and common, what's camping without a fire?  The rain turned out to be a blessing in disguise and the fire ban was lifted.  HURRA!  When we arrived, so many people left because of the bad weather, so we were upgraded to an ocean front campsite!!  We set up camp (while it was still drizzling) and then made up some soup for dinner.  Just as we sat down to eat it, the rain picked up again.  We looked miserable, I'm sure you can picture it.  #1 thing we wished we had: A Tarp, so we didn't have to eat in the rain.  We then walked down to check out the beach.  It was awesome, even in the cold rain!!
Camilla had a blast! She was laughing and dancing and splashing and exploring.  She eventually fell down into some cold water.  She was wet and shivering, so she spent the rest of the time in mommy's sweater keeping warm and snuggling.  The first night, we had a bit of a hard time getting her to sleep. #2 thing we wish we had: The play pen!  She tossed and turned and eventually zonked out like this...
The rest of the nights, she slept great in the tent and went to sleep no problem.  It was fun to sit around the fire at night with Mr. Stannix sipping hot chocolate.  The next morning we went out after breakfast to check the tidal pools.  We found some sea life, and Camilla touched a star fish! She's so trusting lol.

Then, her and daddy started goofing off.  He taught her how fun it is to splash.  She got soaked, and was cold, but had an absolute blast!! We spent the next few days catching waves and hanging at the beach.  It was great!!
Getting ready to go...
Catching his first wave!! Woo hoo!
Building sandcastles!
I LOVE this picture...priceless
Checking out the waves on a windy day..
Mommy catching some waves! OH it felt good.
There is nothing like being pushed around by the powerful waves of the ocean.  I love the open water.  I love the smell, I love the sound of the waves crashing, I love everything about it.  Mr. Stannix is so sweet, this vacation was pretty much for me.  He knows how much I love the ocean (I rave about it allllll the time).  It felt good to get out there again!!
Our little surfer girl!!
The view from our site! B-E-A-UTIFUL!
#3 thing we wish we had: Something besides a STICK to stir our soup with.  We had plastic spoon melted soup for lunch one day (ew). lol.  There are so many things we should've done differently.  We wanted spontaneous, it was definitely that.....
