With the freezing cold temperatures sweeping across our province this week, all of the buses were cancelled today. I got the message just after bed time last night and let the big kids know that they could sleep in this morning. The house felt cold when we woke and all of the windows were covered in ice.
The early risers had cereal for breakfast and then for second breakfasts we had eggs on toast. As I peeked at my calendar I realized that I had forgotten about swimming lessons and Camilla's dentist appointment. After breakfast, the older boys cleaned up the dishes while the rest of the kids and I headed into town. The air was so cold that Sawyer began gasping for breath as soon as I stepped outside. We piled into the warm van and made our way to the pool where we thoroughly enjoyed the heat and humidity while watching Ollie's lesson. We made a quick stop at the store for some essentials (milk etc.) and then popped over to the dental office.
With Gramma and Grampa being off work today, the kids enjoyed many many board games with Grampa all afternoon while I tidied, baked muffins, and got the soup on for dinner. Sawyer had a nice long nap and woke up feeling good!
It's supposed to be even colder tomorrow and while I could send the kids in to school with Mike, I think I may just keep them home again. I like being together (even though they make me crazy sometimes).
