Chasing Sunsets

Today we got up earlier than usual to hit up the pickle ball courts before the heat of the day set in. After getting my butt kicked once again by Mr. Stannix, we had breakfast at the buffet and then hung out poolside for majority of the day drinking Pina Coladas and Strawberry Daiquiris.

We ventured down the beach later in the afternoon for a walk and I found some fun little shells. After a late lunch we went back to our rooms for a bit. I got ready for dinner and then slipped out to catch the sunset while Mr. Stannix enjoyed a nice long nap!

It was so peaceful down by the ocean where I spotted a few other nature lovers taking in the scene as the sun set.

Dinner tonight was a four course meal at the Japanese restaurant! Mike had been looking forward to this night since we arrived (me, not so much). He was in sushi heaven and happily finished anything I ended up ordering with raw fish. I will say, the glazed duck was delicious, as was Mikes stuffed salmon for our main.

We hopped a bus to the theater after dinner, took in a bit of the show and then walked back to our hotel together.

Sport, Sun, Swim, Repeat

Today was another lovely day in the sun! I got my butt kicked in pickle ball this morning, swam in the warm ocean, explored the resort, at yummy food & hung out by the pool. I am missing my munchkins, but the extra rest and nourishment has been good for my soul. We went to the Italian Restaurant for dinner tonight, and my favorite part was the Canoli I had for dessert!

The Ocean Breeze

Today we slept in until close to lunch! After months of little sleep, and the long travel day yesterday, it was much needed! We threw on our swim suits and wandered down to the buffet to see what they hand for brunch, and enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the morning breeze.

We spent the afternoon down at the beach, soaking in the sights and sounds and basking in the warm sun. The ocean was so much warmer than the last time we came in January (and I didn't see a single sting ray).

We finished off the afternoon poolside, enjoying the cabanas and yummy drinks! We went back to our room for a late afternoon nap before getting ready for dinner at 8:30pm.

Tonight we ate a four course meal at the Mexican restaurant. It started with tacos, lime soup, shrimp for me and steak for Mike, and then dulce de leche (topped with caramelized grass hoppers). We took in a bit of the performance down near the lobby and then headed back to our room for the evening.

Cancun

This morning Mr. Stannix and I woke up bright and early to catch a flight to Cancun, Mexico! We always try to get away together sans kiddos at least once a year and are so grateful to my parents for holding down the fort at home. I made up a detailed, three page schedule that included what and where everyone's activities were as well as who was driving them/picking them up etc. We arrived at the airport shortly after 6:00am and got through security relatively quickly and then waited at our gate.

We arrived in Cancun in the late afternoon and hopped on a shuttle to get to the resort. We finally got to our hotel early evening, checked in, booked our dinners for the week and then went and found a buffet.

We ordered our first Pina Coladas of the week and took a picture to send to our Pina Colada loving girl.

The view from our room was gorgeous! We came here a few years ago and loved it so much we decided to come back!

Mr. Stannix was bummed that he forgot his ipad at home, but then he remembered he could hook his projector up to his phone and still watch one of his favorite shows. I cozied up and finished the book I started on the flight, the first of many books to be read this week!

Sunday Snapshots

Fast Sunday means that Daddy has no Bishopric meetings, and we get to have him home for a little bit longer.

The morning sunshine was streaming through the windows, Nauvoo music filling the background, and the children played happily.

A blessed Sunday morning indeed.

But also, time change was a little rough for Coop this morning....
