We finally have FLOORS and they turned out beautifully!

Happy Valentines
Mr. Stannix and I celebrated Valentines day by going out for lunch together. I met him at his office and together we drove to Grillers to enjoy a meal.
For dinner the kids made individual heart shaped pizzas to enjoy!
It was time consuming, but everyone had a lot of fun and was so happy with their creations!
Happy Valentines!

Ollie Gets Stitches
Lately in the early mornings, the children have been riding their GT's down the laneway to catch the bus. Well, this morning, a few seconds after sending them out the door, I heard a frantic cry. I ran out the door to find Ollie with blood gushing down his face. Turns out one of the big kids was doubling with him and somehow the GT ended up flipping and he either snagged his head on a rock, ice chunk, or part of the GT (the story is still unclear). So while the rest of the kids waited at the end of the laneway for the bus, I got to drive Ollie into the hospital. I was pretty sure it was deep enough to need stitches, and it turns out I was right. When the freezing was put it, it just oozed out the wound, so he had to do it again. Ollie didn't like that part (and neither did I). But he was so brave and ended up with a couple little stitches. Afterward he said he felt well enough to go to school for the day, so we put a Band-Aid on it and called it good! Phew! What a Monday!

School Ski Trip
This morning after the children caught the bus to school, Lily and I wandered over to the new addition to check things out. They've started the kitchen cabinets and I am loving how everything is coming together! I'm looking forward to the cupboard space, the huge fridge, the walk in butlers pantry, and the extra long island!
Gramma and Grampa watched Lily and Sawyer for the day so that I could attend Joe's grade five ski trip. Shortly after the kids arrived at school, I warmed up the car and drove in to catch the charter bus with the students.
When we arrived I helped students get their lift passes on and was assigned a small group of boys (consisting of Joe and some of his friends) to keep an eye on. It was fun to ski with them all day!

Point Guard
Today Sawyer, Lily and I took a quick trip to Sylvan to pick up our meat order. While we were there we stopped for a quick bite to eat at Wendy's. We ate together in the car because Lily had fallen asleep in her seat and I didn't want to wake her. As Sawyer munched his fries he asked, "Is Lily still asleep?" When I replied that she was, he said, "Good. Cuz that means we can have a big talk, cuz I need a big talk." He proceeded to tell me all sorts of things between bites and when he was finished he said, "Mmm... Thanks mom, that was yummy." We then drove back home to catch Camilla's game at RCS while the boys were at piano. She plays point guard and does a great job! We had fun cheering her on! When each of the boys finished their lessons, they walked over to the school to watch too. By the time the game ended, everyone was together and we were able to load up and head home for dinner.

New Hair Styles
This afternoon miss joy and I enjoyed the sunshine pouring through the windows at Gramma and Grampa's house. She sat on my lap and we giggled and took pictures together while the sun warmed our faces and filled our souls.
Later on in the afternoon I took the big boys in to the barber. Turns out mamma's barber shop is no longer sufficient for these cool dudes and they require a more professional hand (I can only do one style). They've been wanting a middle part for quite some time now, and today they made it happen. I let them explain to the barber exactly what they wanted and payed after. They were both pleased with their new hairstyles and have been playing around with them in the mirror all evening.

On the Court
Today found us back at the middle school watching Hyrum play some basketball! They all played well and we enjoyed watching him run and shoot baskets!

Winter Sunshine
The weather has been beautiful these past few days! I've enjoyed listening to the trickling sound of the drain pipes as the snow melts off the roof. We had some little cousins out to play this weekend and Grampa took them all for a sled ride around the acreage.
The snow was sticky and perfect for snowman today! Ollie was really proud of his creations and asked me to come out and see them!
Sonny is getting better at not stealing the kids mittens when they are out playing. He loves when they come out with him. He and Hyrum seem to have a special relationship.

Welcome February
"I have found that there is romance in housework: a charm in it; and whimsy and humor without end. I have found that the housewife works hard, of course - but likes it. Most people who amount to anything do work hard, at whatever their job happens to be.
The housewife's job is home-making, and she is, in fact, 'making the best of it'; making the best of it by bringing patience and loving care to her work; sympathy and understanding to her family; making the best of it by seeing all the fun in the day's incidents and human relationships.
The housewife realizes that home-making is an investment in happiness. It pays everyone enormous dividends. There are huge compensations for the actual labor involved.
The housewife whose songs I sing as I go about my work, is the one who likes her job."

Family Swim
Last week I promised the kids I would take them to public swim. Tonight was the night! They were all super helpful as I dressed the little people. We are in a sweet spot right now where most of them are independent and can help others as well. Camilla did a great job watching Lily for a little while so that I could pay attention to Sawyer and Ollie. We all had a lot of fun!!
