Family Pictures

Today my sister was able to snap some family photos for us. She always does such a good job dealing with our mass group and keeping spirits high (even when kids are grumpy and uncooperative). It was looking like one of the last snow-free days, so we spontaneously decided to head to a friends property and they graciously let us use their old barn as the backdrop (since there was no pretty leaves left).  They turned out so great! My sister is magic!

Trunk or Treat

Today we made our traditional Halloween cookies! We had some cousins out to help us decorate too! In the early afternoon we went to the church for a Trunk or Treat. The children all dressed in their costumes and went around to the trunks of peoples cars to collect candy. They always enjoy this as it's a smaller space and lots of familiar faces! Everyone had a lot of fun. After we got home, we decorated cookies together.

New Sunglasses

I am thoroughly enjoying watching these big boys grow up and develop their own sense of style.
Joe has been looking pretty cool these days!

Daddy's New Car

Today the littles and I drove Daddy to Calgary to pick up his NEW car! He's been looking at the Nissan Pathfinders for a while now and with our CRV getting older, we decided it was time for an upgrade. The bluetooth in this car will be much better for talking to clients on his long drives to either city weekly and the heated seats and car starter are going to be a game changer this Winter. He was pretty excited about it! Afterwards, we went for lunch at Costa Vida and then to Leons to check out furniture for our new livingroom (when it's finally done).

Sunday Snapshots

This Sunday found me already sweating after wrestling Sawyer into his church clothes (which he promptly took back off again). We made it in time to get everyone prepped for the sacrament meeting presentation. As the Primary music leader I may have shed a few tears of pride and joy as the children sang their hearts out! After church we enjoyed dinner with friends. We visited as 12 children ran and screamed through the kitchen, while they cooked the best homemade chinese food. The noise and chaos was hardly noticeable to either of us couples as we both have large families full of boys. We are grateful for good friends and good conversation!

Cross Country

Today we got to cheer Camilla on at her cross country meet! She has a great group of girls that she runs with and they all did an awesome job! This was a new thing for her to try this year, and it was fun watching her train and get ready. She has discovered a passion for running and I'm looking forward to more meets in the future!

Reading by Lamplight

It has been a glorious October! The children spend most of their evenings outside crunching leaves beneath their feet or jumping to their hearts content while the autumn air nips at their noses. When the sun dips behind the trees, they come in for jammies and story time. Reading by lamplight is my favourite way to endure the long, dark nights that are settling in for the season. I hope that when the children are grown they will remember the stories that we read, and not so much the chaos and noise that their mother had to read loudly over.

Candle Light Concert

Today Mr. Stannix and I slipped away for a little overnight getaway to the City. A month or so ago I found some tickets online to a candlelight string concert featuring songs by Hans Zimmer from popular movies like Pearl Harbor, Lion King, Interstellar, and Pirates.

We grabbed a late lunch at Costa Vida of course!

Then we checked into our hotel and got ready for the concert. It was at the Aviation Museum, which was super cool!

The three violinists and cello player were remarkable! Some of the songs gave me goosebumps they were done so well. It was nice to attend something musical again.

We finished our evening with a late dinner out before heading to bed.
