Grown Up

Oliver is looking so grown up lately, I can hardly handle it! The things he says and does make him seem like such a big kid. He still enjoys a good afternoon nap though!

Remembrance Day

There was no school today. As I drove into town this morning I couldn't help but stop at the river to take in the scene. The trees were all frosted from the fog and the river was quietly flowing and moving.

It was a wonderful moment of peace and reflection for me and I felt so grateful for all of those who fought so that we could enjoy these freedoms.

Camilla snuggled Sawyer to sleep for me this afternoon, and then ended up falling asleep in the chair with him. Seeing the two of them together filled me with even more gratitude.

Singing Solo

Camilla has really stepped out of her comfort zone this year and I am so so proud of her and the new things that she is trying! She convinced her best friend to join choir with her and while it's not the same as it was at Brentwood, she enjoys it! They worked on a duet for the Remembrance day assembly today, but at the last minute her friend had to go out of town and Camilla was left to sing a solo! While there was initially some terror (and maybe a few tears) she braved it and did amazing! Her friend had flowers delivered to the classroom to wish her luck. It was pretty great!

Boys, Boys, Boys

It was another beautiful Winter day at the acreage! We've had a few extra boys here this week and Camilla has been such a sport (being the only girl). I wrestled everyone into snow suits this afternoon so that we could get some fresh air! We had so much fun wandering around the acreage, being pulled on sleds, and (for some of them) eating snow. It took so long to get everyone dressed that I made them stay out for a while to make it worth the effort. They were troopers! The only one who wasn't too keen on being out in the snow was Sawyer. He will enjoy it more next year!

Safely Gathered

It's another snow day! We got a pretty big snow fall this week and the spruce trees look majestic with their boughs all covered in white. Even though I could drive them to school if I really wanted to, childhood is so short and I'm glad they are at home today to enjoy the snow. The big kids couldn't wait to get outside and play! Sawyer enjoyed watching them from the window. With all of the snow, we were sure grateful for the sunshine!

Snow Day

The big boys came running upstairs this morning to tell me that they were listening to their radio and had heard all of the buses in the school division were cancelled. I didn't believe them until I checked my phone and sure enough there was a message from our bus driver to let us know the bus wouldn't be running. It's a snow day and we aren't even a little bit sad about it!

After shoveling the heavy, wet snow off the walks, they were quickly covered in a fresh blanket of snow. It hasn't stopped snowing since last night before bed. The roads are awful and we are happy to stay home and play with our neighborhood friends and spend time together.

Dressed in White

The trees are dressed in white, the snow is softly falling and we are cozy and warm inside on this quiet November morning.

The view from my living room window is exquisite.

The company is pretty good too.

And we are all enjoying the rest.

Welcome November

Welcome November! As Winter storms blow and snow falls we are ready to snuggle up and wait for Spring. I'll be cherishing nap time with my baby before he turns ONE at the end of the month. The children will go to school each week and be fed nutritious dinners every night. New rhythms will be found and we will be clinging to the light until the days lengthen again.
