Wash Your Hands

Well, it's pretty safe to say that my little girl is potty trained (day trained anyway)! We made the switch to some cushy, soft training pants last week and only had maybe three accidents to start out with. She's totally risen to the challenge and is quite diligent about it. If she is playing she will stop and look at me and say, "I'm going to the bathroom. I'll be RIGHT back." My personal favorite was when I was changing her into a diaper for her nap and she said to me, "Mommy, when I please wake up can I wear my big girl panties again?" I love her enthusiasm.

She is also a very diligent hand washer. Whenever the house is quiet, I will usually find her in the bathroom, washing her hands and humming to herself.

Moving and Grooving

My kid is army crawling up a storm and it is good. He had me giggling yesterday because he looked like he was doing pushups all day. You work those muscles buddy!

He's quite the squirmer now and will practically jump out of my arms whenever his little red car is in sight. Yesterday he was using the block lid for a steering wheel, and today he found the wii steering wheel under the TV.

Gramma got to come with us to the library this morning while Auntie Emma wrote her diploma. It was fun to sing and dance with her and the extra help was definitely good! Camilla can sing along to most of the songs at her program and likes to interact with the other kids there.

Gramma and Emma are now on their way home. We had a good visit while they were here though!

Happy Birfday

Today my baby sister turned 18! Since her and Mum were in town for a couple of days we got all of the siblings together and celebrated! We all met up in the evening at Montana's for dinner. Camilla asked me a bazillion times on the way there, "We going to dinner Mommy? For Auntie Emma's birthday?" And I would reply over and over, "Yep, you got it!" Then she would finish with a matter-of-factly, "Oh."
Repeat

We finally arrived and bolted into the warm restaurant. Because we were such a big crowd we couldn't get a booth. I always like them because they contain the sound a little better. Half way through our meal all of the people that were there enjoying their meals had left. I joked that Camilla scared them away. Hyrum sat at the end of the table in the highchair that made him look like a midget and he would shake his head no or clap his hands. Camilla sang "Pat-a-cake" really loudly while he clapped, nice and slowly so he could keep up. And each time after she finished with that she would bust out into a very loud rendition of "Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay" (Aristocats style).

We finally all got our food and it was delicious. Mike and I aren't super adventerous and ordered the exact same things we did last time. Whenever there's a toss up between a tasty dish and a burger, the burger always wins. Mr. Stannix should have bet money when he told Emma I would order a burger.

After dinner and great conversation with siblings they brought out a sparkler and dessert and sang for my sis. It was awesome. It was so fun to be with all of my adult siblings and enjoy a night out.

We then came home and had cupcakes to finish off the festivities.
Happy 18th sis!

Good Ol' Lightning McQueen

Hyrum has recently fallen in love with a shiny red race car. When he spots it across the room he tries really hard to crawl over to it. He likes to push it forward and back and play with all it's bells and whistles. I put him on it the other night for a few minutes and his kind older sister pushed him around the house (with adult supervision of course). While he rides he says, "oOoOo" and sounds like he's having the time of his life.

Just don't try to take him off.
Trust me.

To Add Some Color

When I woke up this morning I rolled over and checked the temperature on Mr. Stannix's cell.
-26 ÂșC
and that doesn't even include the windchill.
I was dreading having to leave home today, but we were in desperate need of milk, because you can't have cheerios without milk.
I was frozen to the bone, and I'm sure my little ones were also frozen.
Camilla's little legs ran like the wind into the grocery store to get out of the cold.
Hyrum shrunk down in his one piece snow suit to keep his little cheeks warm.
We got home and I lugged my chillen's into the house.
I set Hyrum's chair in front of the heat vent while I ran out to grab the groceries.
When we all got inside we warmed some heat bags and snuggled on the couch.
Hyrum enjoyed the laundry basket full of toys by the heat vent while Camilla napped.

I am so grateful for the little people in my life.

And in case you want to add some color to this dreary day, check out the video that my sis made over Christmas!

Winter Party

Tonight was the Winter Party for the firm where Mr. Stannix works. We got an awesome babysitter, spiffed ourselves up and went out for a night on the town. These things are typically very formal with fancy dresses and crazy necklaces. I'm pretty simple.  I borrowed a little black dress from my cousin and wore the opals that I got from my parents for grad, they are my favorite, simple, yet elegant.

We arrived and parked in the underground parking. I was glad for the pedways because baby, it was cold outside that night! We enjoyed good conversation, awesome jazzy dinner music, and a great four course meal complete with the fancy forks, drink glasses, and bread plates.

Sadly we forgot to get a nice picture of us all dressed up together, but we did manage to get these stellar shots in a photo booth that they had at the party. I could have done it a million times it was so much fun. Thankfully Mr. Stannix agreed to do it twice!

Treats at Wal-mart

Our day today started early. Camilla followed me down the stairs and we had a snuggle on the couch. Then she went to brush her teeth with Daddy in the bathroom. I woke up Hyrum just before we left to drive Daddy to work. He got a warm bottle in the car. Breakfast for the girl consisted of half of Daddy's cheese whiz and toast and some jelly beans from the 25 cent candy machine at Wal-mart. I made the mistake of showing her how one of those works once. She holds the quarter as we walk in and then munches her treats while we shop. I don't mind once in a while. On our way out of the store I asked at the lost and found for a brown baby sock and they saved it! Camilla had it on her dolls foot last time we were there and it had gotten lost in the store. We finished our shopping and were home shortly after 8:30 am. Camilla then had a big bowl of Cheerios. I'm sure she would eat those for every meal if she could!

Hyrum is moving around a lot more and it is fun to watch him. I adore that kid! He's growing into such a little boy now! He likes to roll and slither around on the floor and is finally interested in going places and getting things. He tries to pull himself up on furniture now, but can't quite get there. He's so stinkin' cute though!

Fire Station No. 1

Last year, Uncle Mike moved Fire Halls. Today we were lucky to be able to get a tour of Fire Station No. 1. Camilla was more into it this time than she was last time. We checked out the trucks and Uncle Mike showed Camilla the cool gadgets inside. First they looked through the thermal gun which showed them the hot and cold areas according to color.

Next they tried out the head sets.  Uncle Mike whispered to Camilla and she listened in the big head phones. She had a big grin on her face the entire time. And of course her baby had to come along for the tour.

Hyrum even got to check out the inside of the pump truck this time! The whole time he had a finger in his mouth and just looked around at everything. He didn't have much to say.

Next we went upstairs and peeked at the excersize room and the dorms. At the end of the tour we came to the fire poles. I was ready to take the kids back down the stairs but Uncle Mike offered to take Camilla down with him. It was all she could talk about after.

Grampa went next with Hyrum. At the bottom Camilla excitedly told about her adventure sliding down the pole with Uncle Mike, who had climbed back up to bring his new puppy down. Camilla then looked up and said, "Oh! It's puppy's turn!" and down they came. It made her giggle.

Then Uncle Mike suited Grampa up in his gear. He almost looked like a real fire fighter!!

Thanks, Uncle Mike!

Best Game Ever

Last night for Family Home Evening we played Hungry Hungry Hippos.  Even Hyrum got in on the action.  Camilla won almost every time, but we think it's because the house is old and the floor was slanted in her favor.  Or, she's just that good.  Either way it was a blast!

Today Camilla found a pair of scissors that I left lying around and she sliced open my favorite little blue pillow causing little Styrofoam beads to go everywhere. That pillow accompanied me on family vacations and to Costa Rica. It was also my favorite pillow to use when I was pregnant. Sad day, but I'm almost over it.
Both the kiddos are napping, Camilla upstairs, and Hyrum in the blanket basket in the living room. I need to go finish the buns for dinner tonight!

Silly Faces

We got a webcam for Christmas. We kind of love it!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos to play!
We've got to get all practiced up before Daddy comes home.
I've spent a lot of my morning playing, and it's super addicting and mindless.
I love it.
It also makes Hyrum laugh hysterically!
