Antique Days

Today we took in antique days with my family. It was a lot of fun and we all came home with nice rosy cheeks! It was a beautiful, blue sky day!
Camilla's souvenir, a homemade shingle!
We started the day by watching the tractor pull. They had a whole field of tractors waiting to compete. You start at one end of the track hooked up to a trailer with a weight on it. As you pull the trailer, a weight on the back moves closer to the front making it harder and harder to pull. The competition is all about distance, and who can go the furthest before they stall out! I couldn't believe some of those tractors were still running they looked so old! Near the end you would see them with both front tires off the ground as they slowed to a halt!
The awesome conductor!
Mr. Stannix took his little girl for a train ride twice around the loop. The little antique train sure could go!! Camilla had fun waving at everyone as they drove around.
 Look at these two romantics!

 Uncle Chris
Camilla loved Sparky! She ran up to me and said, "I gave the teddy a hug!"
Alas, everyone tuckered out and it was time to head home!

For dinner we enjoyed smokies over the fire and good conversation.

Camilla picked flowers for us all! Gramma got the biggest ones!

Mr. Stannix looked pretty hot in my Dad's hat. It kept distracting me when we were playing horse shoes, and my Dad and I lost to Chris and Mr. Stannix.

I finished off my evening with a giant bowl of fresh raspberries drowned in half and half and covered in sugar! My favorite!! Then we all had a soak in the hot tub and got ready for bed!

Multi-tasking

Ever since Hyrum has come along, Mr. Stannix has gotten really good at multi-tasking! I'm going to be doing some multi-tasking of my own today as I clean up the house, pack bags, load the car, and pack up the kiddos for a trip to the acreage! We are headed out to enjoy the long weekend with family. I am just hoping I don't forget anything. The kiddos bag is usually a lot bigger than ours! I will be preparing myself for Hyrums blow-outs and Camilla's tom-boy tendencies to get real dirty! Thank goodness I don't have to pack bottles and formula yet! Cross your fingers that the weather is nice, we're thinking about getting in our first hike of the summer. Camilla's a pretty good little walker and we think she might be up for an easy day hike. We will be leaving after work to pick up my brother Chris and then we will be on the road! I'm looking forward to getting out of the city and going home to the acreage. It's always fun to be surrounded by family!

Three Months

Dear Hyrum,
You are three months old tomorrow! Time has escaped me. In this short three months you have pretty much mastered sleeping through the night and will sleep for eight hours at a time. You are very good at self-soothing and can often be found sucking your fist or blanket. I'm glad you like your crib, but I miss your tiny newborn body that could curl up on my chest and sleep.  The other day you cuddled into me and fell asleep all on your own. I sat on the couch and cuddled with you, because I could, and enjoyed every second. I will continue to enjoy these special times as much as I can now because I know that soon you will be older and not so willing to hug and snuggle me.

Your neck is getting a lot stronger now. You enjoy tummy time, it makes you laugh and giggle. Your favorite way to be is sitting up in the middle of the couch propped with pillows and blankets. You love to see what's going on and especially what your big sister is up to! She makes you smile and laugh like no body else can. You seem to have a great love for her already and I am so looking forward to watching you both grow and play together. She loves you sooo much and tells you so as she climbs up on the side of the change table to give you kisses. Her favorite names for you are "Buddy" or "High-am". I'm sure her "R's" will be all practiced up soon! She loves sharing things with you, especially food, and we always have to remind her that you are too little still. I'm sure you two will be great friends when you're old enough to eat the cookies and chips she offers you!

You love to laugh and giggle! I discovered a ticklish spot the other day as I tried to change your clothes. Every time I go to guide your little chubby arms through the arm holes you let out a little giggle. Your arms are probably the most ticklish I have ever seen! It makes me smile each time you need a new outfit, and I look forward to dressing you each morning.

I feel special because you can already say my name. Often times when you are crying, or wake up in your crib I hear "Mum-mum-mum" between your little cries. I'm glad you know who feeds you and changes the diapers around here! I'm sure your "Da-da-da's" won't be far behind and soon you will be going on great adventures together!

Keeping growing and changing my little boy! We sure love you!

xoxo

Tummy Time

Our little boy is getting to be so big!! He looks cuter and cuter every day. It's so fun watching him smile at his sister when she talks and plays with him. He's very responsive and loves to tell us stories now.

He is still sporting a double chin, but I'm sure he'll grow into it!! He kicks his little legs like crazy and looks as if he wants to be on the move. It's so fun seeing how active he is already!

Last night before bed he got some good floor time. He kicked and wiggled to his little hearts content for probably close to an hour. He reminds me of my little brother in the picture on the right. It's fun looking at family resemblances.

When Hyrum got bored with kicking and wiggling, Daddy decided he should have some tummy time. We were both amazed at how well he holds his head up! He's getting stronger and bigger each day. Daddy enjoyed playing with him on the floor for a little while. Some good quality father son time. I think Hyrum enjoyed not being attacked and loved on by his older sister!

"Belicious" Finger Painting

This morning I made some home made finger paint! Hyrum slept in until 11:00, so Camilla and I had some fun one on one time. It was great to see her enjoying and giggling. The finger paint was a little gooey! I might try a different recipe next time. It was so nice to play out on the deck in the morning sunshine. There was paint flying, tongues sticking out for concentration, and lots of laughs!

The bigger the mess, the bigger the success!

Also, a little video for your entertainment today!

Just Us

While Mr. Stannix is off at the movies and my kiddos are fast asleep, I thought I would take a few minutes and post about our day. Today we were able to spend some family time together, just us. We had a lazy Saturday morning (the best kind) complete with pancakes and strawberries for breakfast. We then took off to the legislature for a few hours with the kiddos. It was chilly, but Camilla still loved it!

She loved splashing her toes in the water!

Daddy chased her around for a good 20 minutes jumping and splashing!

Camilla finally got cold enough that she wanted her towel on and we snacked on some fishy crackers.

Finally it was time to go home for naps! We ended up sleeping the afternoon away. Camilla even fell asleep AGAIN on the couch after she came downstairs. It was definitely a lazy, lazy Saturday. When Mr. Stannix woke up, he told me he'd do dinner tonight! Then he took Camilla to the golden arches. He asked me how hungry I was when he left and I said HUNGRY!

Camilla got her very first happy meal and was SUPER excited about it. Daddy and Camilla were chanting "Fries" the whole way home. Mr. Stannix surprised me with a DOUBLE big mac. I'm not sure I'll ever eat another (that's a lot of meat) so I took a picture. It was delish though. Then I dipped my fries in my oreo frosty. Mr. Stannix knows me too well! All in all, a success.

After Mr. Stannix left on his "man date" it was time to bath my babies and get them ready for bed. I just love Hyrum's soft baby skin after he's been bathed. Clean babes are so sweet and fresh! There is nothing better. We then spent the last half hour before bed rocking out to a fun CD with our shakers. I am definitely tired now! We finished with a quick story from the Book of Mormon and then Camilla said the night prayers for us. She's gettin' good! Now both my babies are sleeping and I think I am about to join them!

Swaddled and Snug

The secret to making this little boy happy is simply to swaddle him up tight and snug. If he is ever fussy, I will lay out a blanket and fold the corner down. As soon as I place him on the blanket and begin the swaddling process, he is full of little grins and becomes suddenly content. He loves these big, cotton blankets. He loves to touch them, and grab at them. When he is upset, sometimes I will just put one on his tummy and he will grab at it and feel it with his little hands and bring it up to touch his face and then he is happy once again. When he was just a month old, I was nursing him and noticed all of this "finger jam" (ya know, like toe jam, but between the fingers). He had played with his blanket so much that he had developed finger jam. It took me a while to peel all of the fuzzies out from between his fingers and every wrinkle on his little hands, especially when all he wanted to do was clench his little fists. I bet I could have built a mountain with all of the lint I acquired. Moral of the story, swaddled equals happy.

Just Like Mommy

Every Wednesday morning we walk to the park to meet up with friends, and yesterday was no exception. Around 10:00am I started asking Camilla to get her socks, shoes, baby etc. I put Hyrum in the baby wrap and wheeled the stroller around to the front door so Camilla could get in. When I came back inside, Camilla was patiently waiting in the entry way with her baby in her stroller. She insisted on pushing her baby to the park all by herself. I quickly switched Hyrum from the wrap to the stroller and we were off!! He enjoyed his very first stroller ride.

Camilla was very good and followed me the whole way to the park. It took us a good half an hour to walk there! Her little legs ran almost the whole way. Hyrum just chilled in the stroller.

Camilla still had energy when we arrived at the park and ran and played with all of her friends. When she finally tuckered out, it was time to go home for lunch and naps.

I folded up her baby stroller and put it away for the walk home so that Camilla could ride in her stroller. Hyrum snoozed in the wrap the whole way home.

The rest of our day was good. Camilla was excited when Mr. Stannix arrived home from work. We ate dinner, had baths and got ready for bed. Camilla seemed a bit chilled after her bath and her forehead was slightly warm. She was happy to get some sleep. Mr. Stannix and I enjoyed an episode of Smallville together on the couch. In the middle of the episode, I heard, "Addie, need some Wa-wa please?" My first name has been used a lot lately by our little girl. I'm not sure how I feel about that. After filling her sippy, and continuing with our show, I heard coughing and choking and sent Mr. Stannix up to see if she was okay. She had blown hamburger and cheese chunks all over her bedding, pillow, hair, and face. I stripped her down and sent her to lay in a nice warm bath while Mr. Stannix and I (T-shirts over our noses) cleaned up the bed. She slept pretty good last night and seems to be feeling better this morning... Chicken noodle soup for lunch should do the trick, and then off for naps!
