"Stellar Amazing News!"

So, Mr. Stannix really wasn't very nice to me on Friday.  He e-mailed me from work saying that he had some "stellar amazing news to tell me".  So I wrote him back asking what it was, and he said, "You can wait 'till I get home can't you?" and that was that.  So I waited, and waited, and waited.  He finally got home, but I practically had to beat it out of him!! (Although, I do love surprises) ....

After some small talk, and me prodding a little, he gave me that smirk of his and let the cat out of the bag.  It turns out, Mr. Stannix got a big fat bonus from work! He thought he was in trouble when he got called to the Partner's office, but instead, it was great news!!

We have been talking for a while about going on a shopping spree, and changing up our wardrobes a little bit.  I, for one, still have tees and a few pairs of pants from like, grade 9!! And Mr. Stannix, well, he's a boy, and his jeans are all acquiring holes in the knees. So we decided it was time (it was really Mike's idea).  We had a blast together!! Last night we went to a few places and got a few things, and today we hit up West Ed for the day.  It was nice to be able to get a few new things, without worrying TOO much about the $$. It was a nice treat, and a fun weekend.

Yeah, We're nerds, but at least we have fun!! LOTS!

P.S.
I'm pretty sure Camilla peed on the floor today in this camping store. (HaHa) I didn't want to wait for the line up in the bathroom (it woulda been like 10 gazillion hours) so I changed her diaper in the stroller. Apparently, it wasn't quite put on right. I turned away for like a second, then back again and notice a tiny puddle on the floor, and her wet pant leg.  She must have fallen down in it I think to myself... When we left the store, she was waddling in front of me with her pants hanging half way down her cute little bum (enough for a guy in the store to notify me "um, I think her pants are falling off...excuse me..lady?") so I decided it was time to investigate.  I changed her diaper (which was bone dry) and discovered that, indeed, it wasn't on the way it should have been.... Ah, the joys of being a mum. I'm still giggling, who's kid is she anyway? hehe
P.P.S
To The Camping Store At West Ed:
Sorry for the tiny puddle on the floor, I promise, it won't happen again! ;)

Baby Love

Today, I have an overwhelming feeling of love for my little girl.  I love being a Mum.  It's the best thing ever when she runs over and wraps her arms around my leg and gives me a "hug" when I'm doing dishes.  Or, when she comes over and rests her head on my lap and gives a short snuggle. Or, when she gives me a big slobbery kiss first thing in the morning.  Or, when she rests her head on my cheek and says "awww".  I love that she loves me, and that she comes to me when she needs a hug or a kiss.

It's simply the best.
Me snuggling our girly
She has recently started giving hugs willingly.  It's the best when you hug them, and they hug you back, or when they hug you first.  It melts my heart.  If I ask for a "squeeze" she'll wrap her short little arms alllllll the way around my neck and squeeze.  It's awesome. You know what else is awesome? When she calls me "mum" in her sweet little girl voice.  I sure do love her.
Check out those nasty bites/pox! Poor kid.
This morning we spent a lot of time together chatting, coloring, playing and snuggling.  What a great way to start off the day.  She has started saying more words.  She can pretty much say "water", she says "bath" "ball" "pretty" "dog" "up" and a few other things.  She can also make some fun animal noises.  She does a sheep, snake, dog, and cow.  So much fun!!

French Toast

We have THE BEST neighbors ever! This week has been a hard week, and it's been difficult for me to stay positive (ask my hubby hehe).  Last night was a bad night with Camilla again. I can't decide if she just has a lot of bites, or if it's the chicken pox (post immunization) or if she's just working through some bottom teeth.  She was up at 5:00 am and didn't want to go back to bed, and she was such a grump this morning.  I am not a fan of getting up super early (especially when I went to bed late the night before), and I am definitely not a fan of grumpy kids in the morning (something I will get used to I'm sure...). Anyways, I decided to get up, do my hair and dress.  Yesterday, I stayed in my sweats all day and didn't bother with my hair, and I felt like a bum all day.  I already feel better today, just for that reason.  I also received a weird phone call at 9:00am from a lady saying *insert accent here* "Hi, I jus let you know that I be late, I jus woke up".  She hung up before I could ask who it was.  Anyway, so I decided to get up incase I got a knock at my door in a few minutes.  I made Camilla breakfast and then was going to pop some toast in for myself.  The milk expired (another terrible thing lol) and so I resorted to toast for breakfast.   Just as I cut the bread, I get a knock at the door.  Camilla is still upset, but cheers up as I head to the door to see who it is.  It turned out to be the neighbors son, and he was carrying a giant plate of french toast!! His mum even put a little cup of syrup on the plate.  Talk about inspired.  It made my day, and totally cheered me up.  I think we have the best neighbors EVER!

Yesterday, Camilla discovered she could climb into my corner cupboard.  I, of course, got the camera out. She caught me with it, and had to strike a pose (hence the arm stuck out). I love her little smile.
Today, I have made it my top top priority to have a better day, be more patient, and more loving.  Service always makes ya feel better right?  I've had two songs stuck in my head all day.
1. L.O.V.E  you know "L is for the way you look at me, O is for the only one I see....."
2. When You Say Nothing at All  "The smile on your face, lets me know that you need me, there's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me...." it was our wedding song, and has been one of our favorites. In fact, the other day, Mr. Stannix blasted it in the bathroom while he was getting ready (at 6:30 am mind you) and came into the bed room with it blasting from the bathroom and planted a big wet one on me.  It was a fabulous way to wake up, to my hubby's smile and a big smooch.  I love the line "truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me"  because when I stare into Mr. Stannix's eyes, sometimes I get goose bumps, and I definitely see this "truth".  He's probably the most loving, patient, honest man ever.  Boy am I ever lucky!! I only hope that when he looks into my eyes, he can see this same truth.  It's time for me to step it up and be a better wife/mother. I have this quote on my fridge that I love (it has been hiding under a picture) and it's a great reminder.
"Am I the woman
I think I am,
The woman I want to be?
More importantly,
am I the woman the Savior
needs me to be?"
~Sheri Dew

I think that that's what has been bothering me lately.  I am not being the woman I should be.  Although I may be unhappy with outside/worldly things, Mr. Stannix reminded me last night that happiness comes from within and not from without.  So as I choose to be happy, and am doing those things I'm supposed to, I can be the woman the Savior needs me to be, for my husband, and for my little girl.

There we go, problem solved.... haha Now, the sun is shining, and I think I have some fresh yummy peas to pick!
Happy blogging!!

What!? It's 3 PM?!!

So, my day started out pretty good considering the horrible night I had last night.  Camilla was up on and off between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00 am.  Oiy. It takes a lot outta you when you're not used to it... Thankfully, Mr. Stannix didn't need a lunch today (he gets to go out for lunch with a manager) and he was able to scrounge up some breakfast.  I think he ate it on the bed, and tried to even feed me a grape in my half asleep state. I do remember spitting it out..... I've been working on uploading pics to the Costco website to get developed.  I have 25 free prints, and if I develop 200+ I get them at 10 cents each.  Pretty stinkin' good deal I'd say. So, a lot of yesterday and this morning were spent on that.  Then I thought I would be genius and change what I wanted printed on the back to the date each picture was taken.  After an hour and a half, I'd finished the last one, then it timed out and I had to sign in again. The pictures were thankfully all saved, but the changes I made to the writing I wanted on the backs wasn't.  So, I spent some of my afternoon re-doing them.  Then I realized, it wasn't saving all of the ones I was re-doing, and gave up.  So much for saving myself some time dating the backs later... Except for the fact that it's 3:00PM and I HAVEN'T accomplished ANYTHING, I'd say today was a success. I got almost 500 pictures developed for $40.00. Man, I love digital technology.

Caught Reminiscing Again

Todays project: Organize all of Camilla's bajillion pictures on the computer, delete the "bads", "sort-of duplicates" and "don't need to develop's (because they are on the computer)".

I'm not entirely a fan of sorting through photo's, except for the fact that I get to reminisce.

Reminisce
Verb:  indulge in enjoyable recollection of past events

And reminisce I did.  It was a great morning!! I mostly want to be ultra-organized.  I want to make sure that Camilla has all her baby pics printed out/saved to CD's for when she is older.  I'm hoping to be able to do this with all of our kids (and I'm sure my youngest sister will hold me to it).  I love technology and the fact that I can take a million pictures without having to pay to develop them all inorder to see them.  I love that they can all be on my computer and saved so that I can flip through them once in a while.  I am now in the process of uploading them to develop online at costco so I can get a killer deal! (I'm cheap, what can I say?)

I miss her being this small :(

Family Reunion

We have been gone all weekend!! I thought I would post a quick entry before bed tonight.  This weekend we went out by Fort Sask. for some camping and family fun! It was great to see all of the cousins, aunts, uncles, second cousins, and gramma and grampa. We had beautiful weather and a lot of fun doing a bunch of different things and just hanging out.  Everyone arrived Friday night and we all set up camp and enjoyed some time around the fire.  Camilla hung out until late around the fire.  She enjoyed her first night in a tent though!
Camilla was sooo dirty all camp.  She went to bed with marshmallow/dirt stuck to her face.  She and I shared a sleeping bag all weekend. It was great to snuggle!! I can't wait to take her camping again. She had a blast!
Saturday morning, after breakfast, we whipped out the sumo suits and had some killer wrestling matches.
It was pretty hilarious watching everyone.  My little bro snapped a few shots of Mr. Stannix and I wrestling (he creamed me.. I was laughing too hard to do anything about it). What a blast it was!!
After everyone had a chance to wrestle, we had lunch, visited, played some games, and chatted.  Camilla made lots of friends.  This guy, in particular, was her fav!

She was such a trooper the whole weekend.  In the late afternoon we all went into town.  We played some baseball and spent an hour at the swimming pool. It was great having the pool all to ourselves!!
We then had a big dinner to celebrate my Grampa's 75th birthday. It was a great experience. I have a pretty special Grampa.  After dinner, we had everyone gather for family pics.  There was a photographer there who did a giant group shot, but I snapped a few after.
On the way home, the sun was just setting. It was beautiful!! My pictures don't do it justice.  It was so romantic driving back to the campsite and watching the sun sink into the horizon.  It made me excited for sunsets at the ocean at the end of the month!!
Saturday night was jokes and fun around the fire. Camilla slept in someones arms until we took off to the tent for the night.  It was so fun to visit with everyone. Sunday we had "eggs-in-a-bag" for breakfast, it was delish! Then some of us went in to church.
Camilla hamming it up again!!
The last night, we stayed up REALLY late to enjoy every last second with each other.  We played our traditional game of kick the can.  It was funny because we are all older and married now.  The "grandparents" took all of our kidlets while we had fun ;)
THE can.... Easy to spot!

Today everyone cleaned up and we were out of there shortly after noon.  What a fabulous weekend! It's great being surrounded by family and visiting with them.  We had a blast! Lots of great memories were made.  Can't wait 'till the next one!!

Friday Eve!!

Camilla has discovered how to climb up onto the couch, and she's very proud of it.  Can anyone else stretch their legs up that high?? It's pretty funny.

Today was a busy busy day. I took two loads of brush to the dump, mowed, weed whipped, weeded, did dishes, vacuumed, cooked....etc. We spent from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm outside. My face got a little sunburt (stinks because we have a fam reunion this weekend and I'm already burnt).  Camilla was a trooper through it all. She even picked up twigs and leaves and threw them in the garbage for me. It was cute. She's so willing to help.  She's growing up so so fast!
Every time I look at the top pic, I laugh out loud, seriously, so funny to watch and listen to her grunt....

The joys of being a mother :)

Daddy's are so Special

Camilla LOVES it when her Daddy comes home.  Even when Mr. Stannix is really really busy with work and school, he still takes some time for his little girl.  Last night she got a ride on his back around the living room. It was sweet.  Whenever she doesn't get her time with Daddy, she's usually sad or upset, and it's noticeable.  There's something to be said about the relationship between a little girl and her Daddy.  I'm beginning to notice this with Camilla and Mr. Stannix.  Camilla usually cruises into our bedroom on Saturday mornings after I get her out of her crib (thank goodness she hasn't climbed out of that yet), and stands on her tippy tip tip toes to look for Mr. Stannix in the bed.  She loves Saturday mornings because that means that Daddy is home, and usually, he's all hers.  She loves him so much!

This week, I have been lucky to have my Dad staying with us.  We've had lots of great talks, and I've gotten lots of advise.  Today he even pruned some trees for me!! It's been awesome being able to visit with him, and he's enjoying some time with his grand-daughter as well. Like today, for instance......
Dad slowly opened the pea pod, and showed her how to pick out the peas.  He said something about "Patience in each moment" and taking our time with things as we teach our children. He explained to me all about patience, and how he taught us kids patience.  He talked today of him and my brother planting trees at the acreage.  My brother wanted them to grow "right now"!  Now that my brother is older, and sees  what the trees have become, he knows it was worth the wait, and he learned the value of patience and looking ahead. Dad's really are special! I'm sure thankful for my dad and everything that he has taught me through our conversations, and by his example.  He's always been a great example to me of giving service and hard work.  I'm so glad Camilla has such a great example for a Grampa! They've shared many sweet little moments.
In other news, we have fresh peas growing in our garden! They are absolutely divine! I can't wait for the baby potatoes and yummy carrots.  This, my friends, is my favorite time of Summer! Camilla has enjoyed chowing down on fresh peas and garden goods.

Our Little Climber

This is how Camilla climbs
Our little miss Camilla has recently turned into a hard-core climber!! I'm waiting for the day when she will fall and hurt herself...It's been keeping me on my toes!! She has no fear, just a mischievous look in her eyes. She gets more and more fun every day.  Yesterday, I caught her going for the computer mouse.
A part of me is scared because the chair is so tipsy, but a part of me figures that she will learn, and falling down might be a part of that.

This morning, we hung out with Grampa, and spent some time outside.  I decided to take my little climber up to the park so she could run free and have some fun.  The first stop was the swing set.  She stood beside it, pointed, and said "up". So into the swings she went.
It's one of her favorite things to do at the park.

She was enjoying climbing and standing too!!

Tonight when Mr. Stannix came home, he asked if I wanted to go out for dinner. That was a definite YES! It's up to me to decide where!! I asked him if I could have dessert too. Of course, he said "yes" (because he loves me). HaHa So after he takes a round out of his homework, we're off!!

Belly Laughs

March 2010
Last night, Camilla was hilarious! I almost peed my pants I was laughing sooo hard at her! I put her in a bath to kill some time before I put her to bed (and to clean her up obviously).  She had all her toys in there and was playing around.  Then she started splashing, I laughed a little... She thought it was funny, so she did it again...and again..and harder and harder! I fake screamed and moved to the side to avoid the water splashing up and she laughed this harty, right from the gut, deep, long, giggly, bubbly laugh. (Any parent knows this laugh).  It was THE BEST LAUGH IN THE WORLD! I lost it, she cracked me up! We played this game for about 5 minutes. She would splash and smirk, I would duck "ahh" and she would burst out laughing again. Pretty soon, Mr. Stannix was peeking around the bathroom door, and also cracking up.  It was great! If she ever does it again, I'll have to get the video camera.
March 2010
After her bath, I put some nummy smelling lotion on her.  When she was all done and in her jammies I pulled her in for a smooch and started sniffing her (because she smelled so good!).  She broke into a little giggle again. So, like any good mum who wants to hear her laugh, I did it again!! Pretty soon she was crinkling her nose and shrugging her shoulders and laughing full out again.  Then she stopped, looked at me, moved her face close to mine with her nose sticking out, and...she sniffed ME! (Only one sniff though, she can't do multiple sniffs in a row like I can lol) It was great. She's such a clown. Mr. Stannix fed her the bottle, snuggled her and put her to bed.

Today, she is busy climbing and almost falling off things. It's keeping Mommy on her toes!!
